Round 1: Supported Operating Systems and Ease of Installation

According to the download page on alfresco.com, Alfresco packages (installers) exist for:
  • Windows
  • Mac OS
  • Linux
These packages include the Alfresco platform (community edition), OpenOffice.org (used transforming and indexing MS-Office documents), and ImageMagik executables (used for image transformation).

OTOH, Nuxeo, on their download page, also claim to provide packages for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. However,

  1. Only the Windows package is a real installer. The "Mac OS" and "Linux" packages are just ZIP files and not real installers.
  2. The packages only contain the Nuxeo platform, not the third-party apps that are needed by Nuxeo (such as OpenOffice.org and ImageMagik, as for Alfresco).
First round winner: Alfresco

Current score: Alfresco 1, Nuxeo 0.
